Heat pump leads get expensive when you quote bad-fit homes. Segment by property type and current system, then qualify the basics before a survey.

The 3 segments to separate

Different homes need different messaging and qualification.

The “mainstream” segment. Needs education + grant framing.

  • Ask about current system
  • Ask about property type
  • Ask about insulation readiness

Off-gas / oil / LPG

Often higher intent. Different economics and urgency.

  • Current fuel type
  • Property size proxy
  • Timeline to replace system

New build / renovation

Best-fit leads when planned early. Qualify stage and drawings.

  • Project stage
  • Installer availability window
  • Heat loss calcs (if available)

Pick 6–8 max. If they’re not ready, route them to nurture instead of quoting.

Heat pump lead form questions

  • Do you own the property? (Yes/No)
  • Property type (detached/semi/terrace/bungalow)
  • Current heating system (gas/oil/LPG/electric/other)
  • How many bedrooms?
  • Any existing radiators / underfloor? (Radiators/UFH/Both/Not sure)
  • Timeframe (ASAP / 1–2 months / 3+ months)
  • Postcode / nearest town
